Women's Empowerment at Max Spare Limited

"You can tell the strength of a nation by the women behind its men !"

The wise words of Benjamin Disraeli, and we at Max spare believe in just that, except that our nation is our company.

It is well known that women are able to effectively multitask and are also the biologically stronger gender. But unfortunately, we turn a blind eye to this potential and allow it to remain untapped under the mask of motherhood and homemakers.

It was in 2019 that we realized that most wives of the workers who lived on our company premises would be able to perform important jobs like packaging finishing and quality control, as these jobs did not require specialized skills.

We also realized that the families of our workers would greatly benefit from the double income of their spouses, who due to having become. mothers with young ones to look after at home, we're unable to do jobs.

It was then that we decided that if we provided a sheltered daycare facility, where their children were looked after while they worked, they were able to contribute to their family's income

Thus was born the MAX SPARE CRECHE.

Within the premises of the company, we created a daycare facility where children received a basic meal and were looked after by some of the wives who were employed as daycare nannies.

We developed play areas and basic activity plans to keep the children usefully and creatively occupied while their mothers went to work. Nursing mothers were allowed flexible hours to take breaks from. work to nurse their babies.

What started then with 10 children has today enabled 200 women who were spouses of the workers to come to work and be equal contributors to the family income..

We truly feel that this small change has been a big step. towards women's empowerment in our company. I was proud to be a part of the inception of this plan and have watched it grow to its present strength.

I was also responsible for creating many activities and collecting toys as part of toy donation and book donation drives.

I am truly excited and thrilled to see how far we have come in this small endeavor towards a greater cause.
